More about the house: The kitchen is large and fully equipped for all your cooking needs and there is a small dining area between it and the living room. The downstairs bedroom is also large and has a private patio.There is a utility room with a washing machine, a carport as well as very convenient parking just outside the entry gate. Each bedroom has a queen bed making the house ideal for up to 4 adults. Sheets, blankets and towels are provided. It is an easy 5 minute walk to the town center and the beach; a car is rarely needed. About La Manzanilla: It is a small fishing village located on the southern end of the Tenacatita Bay. The surf is generally very small and safe for swimming and kayaking and the beach is lined with wonderful palapa style restaurants. The beach extends uninterrupted north for 3 miles for long walks, jogging or horseback riding. In town the are a number of fine restaurants offering a surprising variety of cuisines. There a number of small grocery stores, a pharmacy, a used bookstore, art gallery, internet cafes, a health clinic and a lovely central plaza to relax and observe the daily life of this small village. There is a very professional outfitter for kayaking/snorkeling tours and Mangrove lagoon/birding tours. You won't find a bank or ATM, a post office or mail delivery, a gas station or paved streets, chain stores or fast food eateries or even cell phone reception. There is frequent local bus service to the nearest larger towns like Melaque and Barra de Navidad. Last but not least, there is an impressive "colony" of American Crocodiles that live in the lagoon at the north end of town and are easily (and safely) observed. La Manzanilla (pop.1500) is in the state of Jalisco, just north of the Colima state line. It is a 45 minute drive north from Manzanillo's international airport (ZLO) and a 31/2 hour drive south on Hwy. 200 from Puerta Vallarta. www.La Manzanilla.info is an excellent source of information on the area. |
